For my 37th birthday, my friend Carole gave me my first (and probably last) book written in Swiss German. For those of you who don’t know, the Swiss German dialect usually is only spoken, not written. This means that you’re not used to reading it. I had a real hard time at first. Most of the time I do subvocalization while reading, and I realized that for Swiss German I have to do it.

The “igs sig gsi” juxtaposition is hilarious (and probably intentional). It means “I have been”
